Virginia is for Lovers

I'm in Richmond, VA, for my senior sociology trip. Yesterday we went to the Southern Sociological Conference to hear presentations. Some were better than others... But overall it was pretty sweet and I got a cool bag & nametag that made me feel rather professional. We're eating pretty good too (that it, when we do eat- my DC money is quickly depleting...). Today we had thought of going to Washington, DC, but decided to go somewhere a little closer. So within the hour we'll be traveling to Jamestowne, VA. We've had an average temperature of 80* which has made my joy complete. I also love the people on this trip. We're very indecisive, but it's really low key. We're staying in an absolutely beautiful church (with wireless :-)) in little bedrooms. Last night we watched The Kite Runner in the youth group room. Not as good as the book, can I hear a witness?

We have to go back to Upland tomorrow, but I'm not thinking about that now. I brought a bit of homework for the long drive, but I actually did bring a for fun book too- Love in the Time of Cholera by GGM. It's making me want to go back to the Carribean. I should have read it over Christmas, silly me.

I think I've totally got a crush on Virginia...

I thought about adding it, but decided against it. I couldn't sit through it again, knowing how much better the book it. So i just thought I'd tell everyone to read it instead.

I used to live in Virginia, and it is quite beautiful once you get west of the Tidewater area. Jamestown is cool, and Williamsburg was my favorite. It's such a beautiful area with a rich and preserved history. The further west you get, the prettier the state gets. Too bad I spent all of my 9 years there in the flat wastes of southeastern VA :(.
